My Monat Results: Week Four

Well guys, still no Macbook, but here I am making do with an age-old, super slow desktop that likes to update out of nowhere and completely stall my productivity. Not that I mind that much… it’s a great excuse to make a snack and tune in to a little Netflix (aka my favourite rainy day activity). Luckily, the rain stopped for a bit and I was able to step outside to take the final images of my hair. Or rather, make my boyfriend take photos of my hair.

It’s been a month since I started using Monat’s three-part hydration system (Renew Shampoo, Replenish Masque, and Restore Conditioner) as well as the Rejuvabeads Split-end Mender and the Rejuveniqe Oil. I took on the challenge in the hopes that it would do three things for me: 1) hydrate my hair and put an end to my dry ends, 2) allow my hair to air-dry faster and in a silkier, less-crazy way, and 3) stop the breakage that I was experiencing at the top by my roots (a result of my daily hair straightening habits). I gave it one full month to work its magic, and here we are — the end result.

In terms of my impressions, I’d written in my previous post that I loved the leave-in conditioner, probably wasn’t using the conditioning masque totally the way it was intended, and still needed to use a little more oil to make my hair silky smooth. Two weeks later and I’m still loving the leave-in conditioner (it’s probably my favourite product of the bunch), but also the Rejuvabeads split-end mender. I don’t know how I missed this earlier, but that stuff smells so damn good.

As for the oil (and my dry ends), I checked in with my Monat representative (psst her deets are at the bottom of this article) who suggested that I try an oil treatment on my hair (apply lots of the oil overnight and then wash it out in the morning). That’s something that I forgot to mention in my last post that’s also a huge plus — this company has hair representatives that can answer all your questions. They’ll chat with you about your specific hair type and what you want to solve, then work with you to suggest the right products and treatments to solve even your ‘that-can’t-possibly-be-fixed’ problems. That’s just something you won’t find in the hair care aisle of a drugstore, and that alone is worth the price tag of these products.

As for the final results, I can feel the difference more than I can see it, but my hair has never been this light and smooth. Day two is my favourite day, when it’s light, fluffy, and I can do anything I want with it (flip to a voluminous side part, put it up without getting a kink), but even on day four it still looks great. I may not notice a difference yet in the dry time of my hair, but I have notoriously thick tresses, and I’m willing to continue the process since I’ve only got something to gain.

If you’re interested in trying Monat’s products for yourself, make note that you won’t be able to find it in a store, so you’ll have to go through one of their representatives instead. I’ve been in touch with Verena Baxter and she’s been amazing, so if you live in the Vancouver area I highly suggest you reach out to her. You can find her on Facebook here, or through her personal Instagram page here.
